The Mazda CX-5 is a compact crossover that’s been around in its current form since 2017.
Mazda has bestowed updates upon it over the years, and the 2022 version has a slightly different look.
The front and rear ends are different, and there are also new wheel designs for the various trim levels.
The top Signature trim now has body-color lower trim, replacing the previous black plastic cladding.
The base engine remains a 187-hp naturally aspirated 2.5-liter inline-four.
There’s a turbocharged 2.5-liter inline-four available as an option, and both engines use a six-speed automatic transmission.
All-wheel drive is now standard across the board, as it is on all Mazda SUVs.
The turbo engine makes an extra 6 horsepower for 2022, for a total of 256 horsepower.
Interior changes include revisions to the seats and additional sound-deadening.
Our CX-5 Signature test car stickered for $40,745.
