Chartered Insurance Institute seeks Rising Stars of Insurance

The Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) is seeking rising stars to join the professional body’s flagship talent programme: the New Generation Group.

The 2022 to 2023 class will be made up of 40 promising professionals split into four groups – claims, underwriting, broking and the London Market.

Members of the four New Generation Groups will get to network with other rising stars from the profession, meet with regulatory personnel, engage with members of parliament and learn how to handle the media.

Each group will also be asked to work together on a project they believe could make a difference to the insurance profession and present it to the CII’s board.

Previous groups have delivered projects that have challenged the insurance profession on serious issues that impact consumers from claims handling to good practice with vulnerable customers.

To join the CII’s ‘New Generation Group’ all applicants need to do is send in their CVs plus a few lines about why they consider themselves as rising stars in the profession. They will also need to confirm that they have line manager approval to take part in the group’s activities.

The closing date for applications is 9 August.

Applicants must be able to prove that they have made significant strides in their professional development and make a strong contribution to the team or department in which they work.

They are likely to hold a minimum qualification of Dip CII level and have five to 10 years of experience within the general insurance profession.

The successful candidates must be members of the CII.

Successful candidates must be willing to commit to attend the set development sessions and to dedicate time to the group project.

Jonathan Clark, interim CEO of the CII, said: “The Great Resignation is underway and to attract and retain talent the profession needs to offer individuals clear responsibilities and opportunities to learn and grow. Talented individuals expect their personal sense of purpose to align with that of their organisation and the profession they belong to.

“Our flagship talent programme is an excellent way for employers to encourage their rising stars to see their contributions as being recognised. This programme allows them to network with other rising stars in the profession in a way that is truly collaborative and achieves results that change the way insurance works.

“The CII’s New Generation programme always attracts the most impressive individuals in the profession who are capable of shaping the future of the way we all work. By bringing together these talented individuals, we will help them to develop the knowledge, skills, behaviours and networks they need to thrive with their chosen careers.”
