Is travel a covered reason for at-home test reimbursement?

Planned to take a trip to Europe this month, so we bought the Abbott BinaxNOW Covid-19 Ag Home Test kits in May since we could use those for testing to re-enter the US. Unfortunately we both caught covid right before our trip and had to cancel.

I’m filling out the paperwork to get reimbursed and the form requires you to select a reason for purchasing the tests: exposed to someone with Covid-19, had Covid-19 symptoms, required for employment purposes and other. The form also states that you can’t be reimbursed for tests if they’re required for employment.

I’m stumped on what to put for ordering. As long as it isn’t for employment, does it matter? I’m afraid if I write in that it was for travel it’ll be denied. And we did end up using some of them once we experienced covid-19 symptoms, but that happened weeks after we ordered them. And I assume the insurance company knows when my husband had covid, since he had a PCR test done at a pharmacy that came up positive.

I guess I’m wondering if I’ll “get in trouble” if I say it was for covid-19 symptoms, since we technically didn’t have them when we ordered them. Is there any way they would find out?
