Marsh McLennan Agency swoops for New England firm

Marsh McLennan Agency (MMA), a subsidiary of Marsh, has announced the acquisition of Maine-based Clark Insurance. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Founded in 1931, Clark Insurance is a full-service agency that provides business insurance, employee health and benefits, and private-client services to individuals and businesses. Headquartered in Portland, Maine, the company has additional offices in Windham and Gorham, Maine, Manchester, N.H., and Lowell, Mass. Haberman Insurance, a Massachusetts-based agency acquired by Clark last year, is also part of the acquisition. All 135 Clark Insurance employees will join MMA.

“Clark Insurance is respected across the region for their quality service and expertise, as well as their colleague-focused culture that sets them apart from other agencies,” said Jerry Alderman, CEO of MMA’s New England region. “Both the Clark team and MMA share a dedication to serving clients, colleagues and the community, and we’re excited for this new partnership.”
